Fee Modes
Choose between accumulating a ZEC reserve and sharing ZEC with eligible holders.
Give creator fees a purpose
Choose a Fee Mode when you launch a ZECPAD market. After verified fees reach the treasury, 20% is allocated to the protocol and the remaining 80% follows that market’s mode.
Both modes use the same ZEC quote, 1 billion initial token supply and 2% creator fee. Neither creates another token supply model or a separate treasury wallet.
Compare the two modes
| Feature | Shield Reserve | ZEC Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Market allocation | 80% of each verified fee receipt. | 80% of each verified fee receipt. |
| Use of funds | Accumulate ZEC in a per-market reserve allocation. | Plan proportional distributions to eligible token holders. |
| Holder payouts | No automatic holder payouts. | Require a finalized snapshot, sufficient capital, operator approval and confirmed execution. |
| Primary setting | Minimum capital. | Minimum capital and epoch hours. |
| What it does not promise | Price protection, redemption or shielded transfers. | Guaranteed rewards, yield or a payout to every displayed holder. |
A simple allocation example
If a confirmed receipt contains 1 ZEC, 0.2 ZEC is attributed to the protocol and 0.8 ZEC to the market’s Fee Mode. With Shield Reserve, that 0.8 ZEC remains in its reserve accounting. With ZEC Rewards, it can fund an approved distribution once the mode’s checks pass.
The split applies to actual verified creator-fee receipts, not to trading volume or an estimate of unclaimed fees.
Names do not create guarantees
Mode funding, scheduling and completed transactions are different states. Always inspect the accounting and transaction evidence rather than treating a mode name as proof of execution.
